Presentation of good practice

The program takes place in several smaller, rural settlements: Bordány, Homokhátság, Zákányszék, Domaszék, Ásotthalom, Üllés, Zsombó, Forráskút, Algyő, Rúzsa. These are places where not too many people live, and often there are few programs aimed at young people – that is why this event was created. It is like when a joint party starts in several small villages at the same time, which everyone organizes in their own place, but for the same goal.

Where there are few youth programs or little activity, it helps to mobilize the community. Its goal is to involve young people and give them the opportunity to participate in local public life . In many smaller settlements, there are few opportunities for young people and low youth participation. The program aims to improve this situation.

Within the framework of the Morajlás Youth Festival, each participating settlement organizes its own program. These include concerts, exhibitions, and presentations by civil organizations. Every year, approximately 150–200 people participate at each location. The programs are all about entertainment, community building, and youth activation.

The program is coordinated by a central association, which also organized study trips to other settlements (e.g. Börcs, Alsómocsolád), where the participants could learn about the operation of local organizations. Knowledge sharing, joint organization and mutual support are important foundations of the program.

The program also provides financial support to other settlements, if there is a need. This way, smaller places also have the opportunity to start their own events and even, over time, establish an association, as has already been the case. The program involves municipalities to varying degrees, but has already produced several positive examples: one municipality became so motivated after participating that it created its own youth association. This shows that the program can initiate real changes.

The program is also present on Facebook and Instagram. In addition, Bordány also has its own news station, articles are published in local newspapers, and events are promoted on posters. Communication is an important part of the program.

Adaptability

Community cooperation is a necessary condition – it only works well if locals actively participate in the organization.
