GenerACTION

About the Project

The Interreg–IPA Hungary–Serbia Cross-border Cooperation Programme is one of the initiatives under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) within the European Union’s financial framework for the 2021–2027 period. Under the motto “Good Neighbours for a Common Future,” the Programme supports the development of a stable and cooperative region and aims to improve the overall quality of life in the border area.

The Hungarian organization Alternatíva Egyesület and the Vojvodina-based association Find The Smile defined their shared priorities in the form of a project titled GenerACTION (Connecting Youth for Empowered Change). These priorities include developing cross-border institutional and civil cooperation, establishing quality connections, learning from and applying each other’s best practices, and creating a methodological publication and a digital platform to disseminate these best practices in a practical way.

Alternatíva Egyesület

Based in Szeged, Alternatíva Egyesület has been serving young people for over three decades. Our main target group consists of high school and university students, though we also enjoy working with elementary school children and younger age groups. Over the years, we have continuously renewed our approach while maintaining the same enthusiasm in organizing sessions, participating in and hosting professional events and workshops. In our community space GyepesMód, we host thematic events (such as the Cartoon Festival), podcast discussions (e.g., for Safer Internet Day), and various activities. This venue also serves as the location for our summer media camps. One of our flagship initiatives is the MediaCommando Workshop, which provides young people with a space to explore the world of media and journalism. With our mobile youth service, we strive to reach young people living in the towns and villages of the region. Our peer support team contributes to youth development and well-being by offering mentoring, fostering positive experiences, and building a supportive community network. The association has worked with numerous other Hungarian civil organizations and institutions and has successfully implemented several international projects.

Find The Smile Association

Find The Smile Association (in Hungarian: Találd meg a Mosolyt Egyesület) is an active civil organization registered in Senta. Its main focus lies in building youth communities, supporting young people, and fostering their personal development. One of its core missions is to create a cohesive, supportive, and constantly evolving youth community in Senta and along the Tisza River. The association organizes regular meetings, programs, and events that provide platforms for young people to connect and engage in shared activities. Recently, they opened their community space called the Hidden Haven Youth House. They maintain strategic partnerships with other civil organizations in Vojvodina and collaborate closely with Alternatíva Egyesület from Szeged and the Flow-E.R. environmental association within the framework of the IPA programme.
