Presentation of good practice
The goal of the good practice was to make it easier to see and organize community programs. Previously, conversations in Messenger groups often went back and forth, and it was difficult to follow who was doing what. That’s why they created a common Discord group, where there are separate chat rooms for different programs. This way, everyone who is interested in a given program can chat in the room that is related to the topic they are interested in, organize tasks, coordinate dates, and plan events there.
This Discord group works like a work group, only tailored for young people to make it easier to work together. The programs are more transparent and young people can more easily get involved in ideation and organization.
Now more than 20 young people are actively using this Discord group. Experience shows that communication is much faster, it is easier to work together, and the young organizers have become more independent. They regularly advertise on the forums that people can join, so there are more and more members.
Adaptability
This good practice can work in other communities as well, if there is a coordinator who is good at computers and online things, and a team of 2-4 people who plan and monitor the structure of the Discord group. Experience has shown that a well-organized central online space not only makes it easier to organize programs, but also helps young people to be more involved and active.
